When Alfred Fain founded a small Rhode Island tire store in 1924, at the time no one could have predicted how Teknor Apex would become an international custom compounder sought out by companies around the world. After a nearly hundred-year journey that’s carried us through acquisitions and expansion, we now have nine U.S. locations, as well as operations in Belgium, Singapore, Germany, and China.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the training of new hires and experienced operators to increase efficiencies and productivity.
• Lead the plant training program by maintaining training plans and schedules for hourly employees.
• Identify skills and knowledge gaps that need to be addressed among all hourly employees within the department.
• Observe and evaluate production trainers to ensure effective execution of training process and training delivery.
• Collaborate with plant leaders and HR to identify training needs and create development plans for teams and individuals.
• Champion company initiatives and systems roll outs by educating and training employees within the department.
• Assess training effectiveness and determine the impact of training on employee skills and KPIs.
• Gather feedback from Trainers and Trainees to evaluate training processes and effectiveness.
• Provide Operational support and hands-on training as needed.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED or minimum of two years prior work experience at Teknor Apex Company required.
• 3 years of either manufacturing experience or training experience; or equivalent combination. 
• Ability to operate independently required.
• Must be able to work overtime and flexible work hours as needed.
• Forklift Certification preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal relation skills required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel, and knowledge in or ability to quickly learn other computer applications.
• Strong organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to compile, analyze and interpret data.
• Strong communication skills required.

 Physical Requirements

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Must be able to maneuver throughout the facility.
• Ability to perform the hose assembly process and demonstrate proper technique to trainers.
• Ability to package finished hose to show proper technique to trainers.
• Ability to explain Reclaim procedures and proper techniques.
• Ability to explain the Extrusion/Braider procedures and proper techniques.
• Operate fork and hand trucks.
• Ability to climb ladders or stairs.
• Ability to bend, stoop, and lean over for a period of time.
• Ability to wear required safety equipment.
